The Orphanages

West Haven
This home was the hardest to be at, yet I think it was my favorite just because the need was so great. There were 85 children here all with disabilities. There were children everywhere running around head butting, kissing, drooling, singing, crying, puking, screaming, and just being kids. This is the home where I met Rasheem who I feel in love with.

Robin's Nest
This is probably the nicest orphanage that we visited. There is still room for improvement but the children go to school and seem happy for the most part. My favorite child here was Ion who had CP. He had the greatest smile ever!

Cops
This was a home for troubled boys. Basically it was what we would consider a juvinal detention center. Most of these boys were not orphans, but in trouble with the law. In this place there was A LOT of fighting between the boys. At this home there was one young man that pretty much took ownership of me. He would follow me where ever I went with his arm around me. That was interesting.

The School
We visited the public school for two days. This was a great experience. I tutored 4 girls in reading both days. I feel like I made a real connection with these girls. We also did crafts and played games with the children here. The schools are very different in Jamaica as apposed to the US . It has taught me not to take for garnet all the schooling that I have received.

Melody House
This was a home for pre-teen and teenage girls. I spent the least amount of time at this home. But, the girls love to dance and enjoyed watching my gymnastics skills.
